Global Shark Attack Map

54 year old surfer Scott Henrich was bitten by a shark on Monday October 19th, 2009 at about 6:00 AM. Initial reports said it was a sand shark responsible for the attack but later reports said that the bite wounds were consistent with that of a tiger shark. The attack occurred on the Hawaiin Island of Maui near Kihei.

The wound on his leg required more than 100 stitches.

Daniel Callahan went for one last swim at his Key Colony Beach home. He had sold the home and went for a final swim at about 5:30 PM on September 26th, 2009. Upon jumping in he was attacked by an estimated 8 foot bull shark. The shark bit his foot. He was able to escape and required 130 internal and external stitches to close the wounds on his foot.
